Pro Tools 10 works differently and doesn’t make the current plug-in, the active window and so Controllermate works on the active window, which is likely to be the Edit or Mix window.īecause he uses Controllermate to convert endless rotary controllers and buttons MIDI data into mouse scroll wheel or mouse clicks and it works on the relative position within a plug-in window then it doesn’t matter where the plug-in is and what your system is, as far as Pro Tools is concerned it is responding to mouse data, nothing else. Even though Mac is not a hardcore gaming OS, there are some exciting games to play. It also transpired that this will only work fully in Pro Tools 11 because when you select a plug-in it becomes the active window as Controllermate works on the active window. He has also set up an impressive resource with examples and guidance on what features you need from your MIDI Controller and he also includes some example setup files that you can import into Controllermate to help you get started.Īs Controllermate is a Mac only application this work round is only going to work for Mac users. Many of you were very interested in how he used Controllermate to make this work and so Brian has created this brilliant tutorial video showing how it is done. We have been asking Avid for MIDI learn for ages but Brian has created this excellent work around whilst we wait for Avid to deliver. Welcome to the Mac Controllers Store, where youll find great prices on a wide range of different mac controllers. And the thing is it looks like you set up what your buttons do in the game with the addon, but for these stupid programs you MUST set them up before it even tries to work with the game, so I'm at a complete impass cause I have no idea how these things work or how I'm supposed to simultaneously set up bindings in and out of the game when I can't do anything in the game until it's already set up outside of it.Īny help or suggestions? Maybe a map of how anyone else has ControllerMate mapped out, tips on how to get WoWmapper to work (WHILE STAYING ON THE MAC, I'm not getting or building a PC just for this.Just before Christmas we shared a very interesting video from Brian Daly, the man behind the Hotkey Matrix showing he was able to control plug-in parameters using a Behringer BCR2000 using MIDI. I've downloaded them both, separately, but I'm COMPLETELY lost! For WoWmapper apparently WoW itself just uploads the keybindings and whatnot so it lines up right away, but not for the only Mac options! You have to start from scratch, essentially manually programming your controller into your computer, adn as I said I'm computer illiterate so I have no god freakin' clue wtf to do!Īnd ofc there are ZERO youtube vids or even guides on Google or anything that helps out with it, the ONLY ones of the very few either completely skip over the incredibly freakin' important part of WTF TO DO WITH THESE THINGS, or they only show how to program the controller to a first person shooter, which is obviously incredibly different then WoW or any MMO. The only alternatives are these programs called Joystick Mapper and ControllerMate. Then a couple of days ago I updated to the new 10.15.7 OS. Problem is, I'm computer illiterate! To get ConsolePort to work you apparently need to download something called WoWmapper, but the piece of sh*t thing doesn't work on Macs for w/e stupid reason. I managed to get Controllermate running ok on my new iMac / Catalina 10.15.6 with XKeys, although the helper app crashes intermittently but it’s an easy click in the dock to get it back up. Its also free to download and use, so its worth checking out even if youre not sure you have the experience necessary to get the most out of the software. Ok so I'm just coming back into WoW and as I was grabbing up the addons from Curse again I stumbled upon ConsolePort and thought that would be awesome since I prefer controllers over keyboards (hate me if you want, I'm already playing on a Mac so I obviously don't care lol). Download ControllerMate for Mac - Versatile controller programming app that enables you to add custom functions to various HID devices such as gamepads, joysticks, trackballs and other similar devices.
